“A Sabbath well spent brings a week of satisfaction, and strength for the toil of the morrow, but a Sabbath profaned, whate’er be gained, is a certain forerunner of sorrow.”

- A. W. Pink

1 NOTE

Those who give a full measure to keep the Sabbath find that it is the Sabbath that keeps us. When we live in God’s creation rhythm (6 + 1) we are in alignment with how we were created to operate at full capacity. There is no other God that sets apart an entire day of worship, rest and celebration to bless his creatures. In the first section of Genesis there are only three objects that receive God’s blessing: humans, animals and the seventh day. What God blesses he makes alive. The seventh day is alive and invites you to experience God in a way that is simply not offered on the other six days.

I keep a weekly Sabbath journal. Each journal entry has five components: (1) Title and date; (2) Photo; (3) Summary; (4) List of Sabbath joybells: family, health, ministry, learning, weekly experiences; (5) Prayer. At year’s end I create a cover, insert quarterly summary sheets, and coil bind. This Sabbath practice not only fills my day with worship, but it gives me a 52 week testimony of God’s goodness and love.1
