My name is John Teter.

I am a very unlikely pastor. My family did not go to church growing up. But my non-Christian mother prayed for me. During my junior year of high school, Jesus rescued me from a 7 year prison sentence by 11 minutes. When I was a senior, Jesus rescued me from 12 foot waves and a deadly rip-current. Psalm 18:16-19 (the first time I heard the voice of God) is a treasure to me.

At age 21, I joined a Bible study and became a disciple of Jesus. After serving in ministry for a few years, I was ready to quit. But at just the right time, God delivered me a book, The Making of a Leader, that saved my ministry and changed my life.

In 2023, with my amazing wife Becky and our three wonderful teen-children, we planted Holy Faith Fellowship in Compton, CA. Our inner-city church plant is proving to be a tremendous learning lab.

I know I don’t have all the answers. Life and ministry are really hard. But I am trying hard to be a proactive learner. This website really helps me grow and learn. And I hope what I am learning along the way might encourage you.

It is my passion to help disciples and Christian leaders finish well.
