A Hindu once asked the missionary E. Stanley Jones, “What has Christianity to offer that our religion has not?” He replied, “Jesus Christ.”

1 NOTE

Recently Kara, Luke and I engaged in a super meaningful conversation with a taxi driver. He is 24 years old. He is from northern India. He was sent to boarding school from age 10. His elite education landed him in America. But last month his life turned upside down when he joked with a co-worker. His colleague gathered a few false witnesses and went directly to HR. He didn’t stand a chance. On the relationship front, he is dating a woman who belongs to a lower caste in the Hindu system. His parents in India do not know. And he was quick to point out that his family belongs to the highest caste level. He was engaging, honest and liked I am a pastor. It sure helped Kara made him laugh a few times.

He asked me for relationship (and then) work advice. He understood relationships always come first. I told him that it sounds like he is experiencing darkness. He quickly agreed. Darkness is closing in. I shared John 8:12 that Jesus has the audacity to claim that ‘I am the Light of the Universe! Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness.’ I encouraged him to read Jesus’ biography. I told him I would love to help learn the Bible.

His response was discouraging. He affirmed, “All religions are the same. We just have different names.” He then told me that his grandfather is a Hindu priest. We gave him a big tip and dabbed him up. I gave him my contact card. He said would reach out.

1 QUESTION

Will you please pray that my friend calls me? I ask God to help me start a GIG (God Investigation Group) with him this month.

Until Next Tuesday,

John
