1 NOTE

Over the course of 30+ years of Christian leadership, Becky and I have lead many ministry debrief meetings. We have debriefed manuscript studies, Christmas and Easter seasons, vacation Bible school weeks, evangelism campaigns, staff conferences, and of course, summer missions. We really value learning. And as an extrovert, I get so fired up sitting with my mission friends in front of our home office whiteboard. But next week we will lead a summer mission debrief that will be entirely new for us. And deeply personal. Our baby girl is coming home!

In December, Joy was beyond excited God called her to serve as a counselor at a Christian camp in Yosemite. She hosted a family event to break the news. We even prayed for the children and youth should would lead. On June 5, Becky and I dropped Joy (and some of her Holy Faith Fellowship besties) off at her summer mission. She jumped out of the car, hopped right in, bonded with her new mission friends. Just like that, Joy began her mission.

For the past 77 days, God has been teaching Joy truth, values and ministry insights that are only acquired when we lay down our lives. Her highs have been exhilarating. Her lows have been discouraging. But Joy has persevered. She did not give up. She has made it to the finish line. Becky, Kara, Luke, Joy and I will drive home together Friday afternoon. Becky and I cannot wait to pastor, encourage and debrief 77 days of mission with our faithful and beautiful daughter!

Will you take a moment to pray for Joy’s learning and re-entry?

Until Next Tuesday,
