1 NOTE

We began 2026 with a call to joy and cry for prayer. Today’s issue is a practical entry on my daily prayer journal. In my first year of discipleship my Wasian (half-white, half-Japanese) dorm Bible study leader taught me to pray. She bought me a writing journal and gave me a practical method to record prayers. As a campus worker at USC I modified the journal into index cards. When Becky and I married we began to interceed together. When I became a church planting pastor I moved to a digital journal. For the last few years I have used a daily calendar from Staples. (I have attached a picture below). The methods of my prayer journal has changed over the years, but the value organizing and recording prayer is deep within me.

As I wrote last issue, I sit daily before the Lord and listen. Each morning I ask God to speak into me a Bible verse and lead me in a specific prayer. I then write down the detailed prayer in black ink. (Shout out to my friend Tim Craig who also uses a Muji .07 black ink pen.) At the end of every month I review to see how God has answered prayer. I record the deeds of God with my Muji .07 red pen. At the end of each quarter and each year, I review prayers. (Sometimes the best prayers take years to answer.) Each year I record how God answered prayer in a summary sheet. Having a detailed record of God answer my prayers fills me with faith and joy. I LOVE red ink!

How do you record how God answers your prayers?
