“Once in our world, a stable had something in it that was bigger than our whole world.”
– C.S. Lewis (The Last Battle)
1 NOTE
This year I became better friends with Matthew. The former tax-collector (aren’t we all former somethings?) taught me so much about mountains (4:1-13), mystery (13:1-52), message (5:1-7:29) and magi (2:1-15). In his version of the Christmas story, Matthew somehow captures cosmic forces, science, astronomy, tyrants, violent depravity and the legacy of a boy trafficked to a foreign country (Daniel).
I preached this Christmas message on Sunday, December 22, 2024.
